About UWG

United Wholesalers & Growers (UWG) is our farming division based in central Queensland. It produces field-grown gourmet and Roma tomatoes, capsicum, and zucchini.

What We Do

The industry is changing rapidly, and so focus on research and development is critical to provide our customers with the best possible produce. UWG is continuously trialling advanced farming techniques, and it is key that we strike the right balance between disease tolerance, yield, appearance, taste and shelf life.

Our future is strong

  • We will expand our Capsicum footprint growing premium grade capsicums.
     
  • Development in Specialty Fields.
     
  • Our strong relationships with leading seed companies gives us access to advanced breeder trials and exciting new varieties.
     
  • With two packing facilities in Bundaberg, Queensland across three farms totally 600+ acres, we are looking to grow our operations at a manageable rate. 
     
  • Our strong partnerships with strong established growers in the Stanthorpe and Victorian regions will ensure we have a strong and reliable supply throughout summer.

  •  Looking to grow at a manageable yet fully sustainable rate with the incorporation of new and inventive technologies.

  • Stage one of Brella Fields Greenhouse technology completed we will continue to improve our quality and our availability well into the future.

  • We have invested in the best new technologies available for our outdoor field cropping to ensure that we can provide a substantial low cost and high quality product grown out in the field while incorporating the newest agronomical technologies available to us with the help of (Hortus).

The Team

Joe Palumbo - Director

Joe is a veteran of the Australian fruit and vegetable industry with almost 50 years of experience. He entered the industry as a perky 14-year-old, and has developed a unique and dynamic understanding of the industry. He has experience across the entire market chain, from retailer to marketer and more recently to grower.

Always the innovator who craves a challenge, Joe merged his retail business into his wholesale business in 1984. He went one step further a few years later, starting a growing operation in Bundaberg, Queensland in the early 1990s. 

Joe’s passion for producing and supplying quality produce has allowed him to establish long-standing grower alliances, which he connects with key retailers Australia-wide.

 

 

Josh Crow

Josh currently runs and manages all UWG crops including Field gourmet tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, capsicum and zucchini.

Josh also runs extensive trials with our specialty lines and other different programs.

Josh is a young and passionate perfectionist \ enthusiast and strives to grown and supply the best looking & tasting produce that he possibly can.

With a team revolving around him including Quality control, agronomy and trial coordinator’s, Josh’s focus is simple and straight forward towards the future in agriculture.

Incorporating Brella Fields into the mix was an exciting and challenging venture for Young Sang \ UWG and Josh’s passion for growing helped strive its recent success.

Josh has always been excited by its advanced possibilities and has been excited by the technology.
